Important Message Regarding a Praxis Fix
Posted by Jose Ortiz on 09 February 2024 10:48 AM

Dear Valued Clients,

We're pleased to bring you some positive updates regarding Praxis, our medical software application.

Some of you may have encountered unexpected crashes with Praxis recently. This was indeed a significant concern, and our team worked diligently to pinpoint the root cause of these issues.

After thorough investigation, we identified that the crashes stemmed from a specific Microsoft component utilized by Praxis for window display. Microsoft acknowledged that these windows were inadvertently sending memory debris into the operating system, akin to undigested food causing system bloating—a critical analogy in the realm of medical software.

To address this urgent matter swiftly, we've developed a temporary solution: a "garbage collector." This feature will automatically clean up most of the Windows debris each time you close a patient record within Praxis. While this isn't a perfect fix, it significantly mitigates the issue. Additionally, we're implementing a secondary measure wherein Praxis will issue a warning when and if system memory usage approaches 2.5 gigabytes, prompting you to close and reopen the application to refresh system resources.

This interim solution aims to provide you with uninterrupted usability until the permanent fix is rolled out with the upcoming upgrade, which will take a few weeks to complete. Rest assured, once the underlying issue with the Windows system is fully resolved, these disruptions will be a thing of the past.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused. As in medicine, diagnosing the problem was the most challenging part, but the subsequent remedy was swiftly administered.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to ensure the reliability and performance of Praxis.

Warmest Regards,
